Debt-ridden ryot kills self

Bhopal, Mar 24: A 47-year-old farmer has hanged himself at his home in Tikamgarh district's Gukharai village, police said. Kin alleged that inability to repay debt forced the victim, Jagat Singh, to take the extreme step last night.

Three killed in road mishap

Three people were today killed and 10 injured when their tractor trolley overturned near Hindoria town in Damoh district, police said. The tractor trolley, carrying 40 passengers, was heading from Guda village to Tirgadgh when it overturned while attempting to save a cow.

The deceased were identified as Mohan Singh Kurmi (66), Jalam Singh Lodhi (50) and Gulli Kurmi (45).

Lightning kills two

Two peasant brothers were killed when lightning struck them at their farm in Amari village, about 85 km from Chhindwara, police said today.

Kishori Lal (45) and Hori Lal (50) were working in the farm when the incident occurred yesterday. Bhabhut Singh (60) fell unconscious and was admitted to hospital. Meanwhile, 100-quintal wheat and 'chana (chickpea)' were destroyed by lightning at Rawarkhurd village, 83 km from here, yesterday.

Constable murdered

A police constable and his wife were today stabbed to death over a land-related argument at Tediimli village in this district, police said. Constable KD Parashar, who was posted with police line, owned a land in the village. He had an argument with Sattu an Antu over the land.

The constable and his wife had gone to the land for cutting crops today when they were killed. A case has been registered against four accused. The accused were absconding. The bodies were sent for autopsy.
