Taslima & pseudo-secularism

| It is indeed sad that exiled Bangladesh writer Tasleema Nasreen had to say good-bye to India after she faced a virtual house-arrest from the Indian government during her last days of stay in India. Even left parties which claim themselves to be most open-minded having a no-religion theory, had to bow to pseudo-secularism for vote-bank politics when they refused a free stay to Tasleema in her preferred state of West Bengal to avoid anger of religious fundamentalists. She was right to comment that one-time death by religious fundamentalists would be better than slow-poisoning caused by state-terrorism leading to a virtual house-arrest. However Tasleema should have adjusted by accepting offer of Gujarat government by being a free guest there.
