Eighteen
Special economic zones (SEZs) have got clearance in Madhya
Pradesh. Of these, nine maximum will be in Indore. Replying
to a question, minister for industries and commerce, Jayant
Malaiya said that among the five SEZs cleared by the corporations
of the government, one is in Pithampur on 735 ha private land
for which 426 ha land had been acquired. Process for acquiring
the rest of the land is underway. For the 13 SEZs approved
in the private sector, the department had not received any
application for acquisition of land. Up till now approval
has been received for maximum nine SEZs- all in Indore district.
Thus the non-receipt of applications for rest of the SEZs
becomes a matter of concern. What more needs to be done so
that the benefits of industrial development reach all the
districts of the State, also needs to be pondered over. Some
extra efforts could help in the establishment of SEZs in the
neighbouring regions of Indore viz Ujjain, Ratlam and other
places. Generally it is seen that only some cities are getting
the benefits of rapid industrialisation. This has adverse
impact on the people of other regions. It would be better
if the youth get employment through industries at their places
of residence. Hence the State government needs to encourage
setting up of special economic zones all over Madhya Pradesh.
The govt has assured employment to the local people in the
cement plant being set up by Anil Dhirubhai Ambani group at
Satna. Similarly land has also been provided to the ACC to
set up a plant in Katni district. The efforts of the State
government for development of every region should be welcome.
After Khajuraho, Indore and Jabalpur an investors meet is
being organised at Sagar on April 8.The govt has directed
to work out systematic programmes for providing amenities
to the investors.
