Ujjain, Mar 21:
Professor HS Sabharwal murder case took yet another unpleasant turn on Friday when his son Himanshu Sabharwal, who was on a fast unto death, was reportedly forcefully picked up by the police. According to police, Himanshu Sabharwal was then taken to a nearby hospital for medical check up.
However, the late professor's son has categorically denied such reports.
Himanshu Sabharwal was on a fast unto death for the last four days demanding a CBI probe into his father's death due to violence during student union polls in Ujjain in August 2006.
Himanshu is extremely disappointed over the pace of police investigation into the case and wanted to build more pressure on investigators to speed up their probe.
Earlier, the junior Sabharwal had demanded a CBI probe and a DNA test be conducted to ascertain whether the heart sent by police for examination was that of his father.
He had also filed a plea with the Supreme Court, seeking a CBI probe in the case and for the transfer of the ongoing case to the Delhi High Court. However, the Supreme Court categorically rejected his plea. The Supreme Court on March 12 transferred the trial of the case to a court in Nagpur.
Acting on a petition from Himanshu Sabharwal, a Bench of Justice Arijit Pasayat and Justice P. Sathasivam shifted the trial out of a court in Madhya Pradesh following an apprehension that the trial if held in the state would not be free and fair.
