Good Friday was observed at Bhopal St Thomas Orthodox Cathedral, Ashoka Garden with solemnity on Friday in commemoration of the Crucifixion of Lord Jesus Christ, the "Son of God". Rev Fr Sam Oommen Panackamattam, (Vicar) was the celebrant of Church. The service started from 8 am in the morning with prayer followed by Holy Good Friday Service, Procession of the Cross-and Adoration of the Cross-. During the Holy Service, Fr Sam Oommen addressed the congregation emphasizing that Jesus Christ had shown the way of truth, love, sacrifice, peace, kindness, and forgiveness to the mankind and we should follow the Path of Jesus Christ.
In addition, Abraham Varghese has also spoke on this occasion about the significant of the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Devotees in large numbers attended the programme. The entire programme concluded on Friday at 5 pm.
St John's Church
Good Friday was observed on Friday at St John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Govindpura between 12 noon to 3 pm. Good Friday is the mark of remembering crucifixion of Lord Jesus Christ on the Cross-. His crucifixion is taken as good to the mankind that's why its crucifixion day (Friday) is observed as Good Friday through out the world on this occasion the Pastor, Rev Dr Anil Martin and the Church Member used to remember seven words. The Lord Jesus Christ at Calvary Cross- delivers. The seven words are Forgiveness, Paradise-Prayer, Our Blessed Mother, Hell, Evangelization, The will of God, Heaven. After delivering seven words he died.
The speaker of second word is Dr Rev Anil Martin Pastor-in-Charge and rest of the words were delivered by the guest speaker from Nagpur Br Sudhanshu Kadam. Christian community believes that he died for out sin itself to save the mankind.
