Robin Singh escapes axe

Agencies

Bangalore, Mar 19: BCCI has decided to continue with Robin Singh and Venkatesh Prasad as India`s fielding coach and the bowling coach respectively. The duo will form the part of head coach Gary Kirsten`s support staff.

While their was hardly any doubt over Prasad`s re-instation following his ward`s splendid performance in the past one year, their were reports circulating in the media that India Robin Singh might be fired before the home Test series against South Africa starting next week.

According to those reports, Gary Kirsten had told the Indian board that Singh`s services will not be required.

Both Robin Singh and Venkatesh Prasad had joined the team last year following their shock first-round exit at the World Cup in West Indies.

Prasad and Singh also had a dispute with the board over their involvement with the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL), due to be launched next month.

The first match of the three-Test series starts in Chennai on March 26.
