BJP, Cong declare candidate for Betul by-poll

Bhopal, Mar 19: Both the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party and State's main Opposition party - the Congress have declared candidates for Betul by-poll here on Wednesday.

The name of Hemant Khandelwal has been announced as the BJP's official nominee for Betul Lok Sabha by-poll, while the Congress party has announced the candidature of its siting MLA Sukhdev Pase as its official candidate for Betul by poll.

4 in fray for RS polls

With no withdrawal of name by any candidate seeking entry to Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh, all the four candidates, three supported by the BJP and one an independent candidate, supported by the Samajwadi Party, the Congress and others have been left in the electoral fray of Rajya Sabha elections from Madhya Pradesh.

According to returning officer, Dr A K Pyasi, on Wednesday, which in fact was the last date for withdrawal of nomination, no candidate withdrew his candidature. With this the BJP supported Maya Singh, Raghunandan Sharma, Prabhat Jha and Independent nominee Vivek Tankha will be vying for three Rajya Sabha seats from the state.The elections for three Rajya Sabha seats from Madhya Pradesh will be held on March 28 from 9 am to 4 pm.
