Second name of success is struggle: Bittu

Bhopal, Mar 19: Success never comes from shortcuts. It requires devoted and dedicated hard work", said the City's international woman judo player Bittu Bhateley (Sharma) who has been selected by Sports Authority of India in the 78 kg. & Open Weight category for performing in Asian Judo Championship, Korea in April Month.

An inspector in CID of the M P Police, Bhateley in an exclusive interview with the Bhopal Today Team said that any girl could be an international level Judo player if she has the courage and honesty towards her game. The genuine enthusiasm in sports is rare and when it is concerned to girls, its significance increases as girls have to initiate a lot at all levels of living to meet the task of sports performance.

Born in Meerut in a middle class family, Bittu felt that girls faced more problems in comparison to boys while pursuing any game. "I have faced many problems during my entire 10 year career but I am lucky as my husband Pravin Bhateley has supported me at every step of my life", said Bittu.

Bittu has grabbed total 16 medals including six gold, three silver and seven bronze medals in different international meets in the last six year. She felt very happy with the sports system in the country and especially Madhya Pradesh. "I got much appreciation from the Government which I deserve", said Bittu.

She further said that she is trying for the Olympics at her best physical capacities and mental toughness. The Government has extended support for my recent achievements in various national and international sports.

Commenting on the age limit of judo in the her life, she said it is fortunate that she is capable to play and win at International level after giving birth to a baby. She has accepted the double task in life firstly, to bring laurels for the nation and secondly, developing international class facility in Tatya Tope Stadium and harness the available sports talent in the city. "There is no dearth of talent; the need is to identify them. If proper attention is paid to the upcoming, India could be a big name in judo at the international level" She added.

She advised the upcoming players never to get discouraged by failure, as the second name of success is struggle. Regarding the future plans Bittu said that she has already secured initial points from Commonwealth Judo Championships, Mauritius by bringing Bronze medal and she is maintaining her performance at her best.
