Tomar denies CBI probe into bribery case

By Our Staff Reporter

Bhopal, Mar 19: There is no progress in the bribery offer issue that created a ruckus in the House on Wednesday and outside the Assembly. The Bharatiya Janata Party State president Narendra Singh Tomar on Wednesday declined to conduct CBI probe into the matter.

He said, "State police and it's investigating agencies are capable to solve the issue". "But it's the handy-work of Congress party who believes in the politics of horse-trading which had come into light during the regime of the then Prime Minister Narasimha Rao". Tomar was speaking to media persons in Vidhan Sabha.

However, the party announced to launch statewide campaign against Leader of the Opposition Jamuna Devi, he added. On the other hand, Congress drubbed the charges saying that bribery offer issue is a political conspiracy hatched by the BJP.

The BJP is trying to malign image of Congress party as it is unable to send all the three Rajya Sabha nominees from the State to the Upper House.

Speaking to media persons, Leader of Opposition Jamuna Devi said, all such allegations are baseless and whatever Samrite is saying is untrue. The entire political conspiracy has been hatched by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan to tarnish image of Congress and Independent Rajya Sabha nominee Vivek Tankha. Congress is ready for a CBI probe into the matter", she said.

"Moreover, when Samrite has openly said that he will not vote in favour of Tankha, then why we will approach him and pay him bribe", she alleged.

Samrite on Tuesday alleged name of former Congress Minister and present MLA Rajendra Singh offering the bribe. Singh on Wednesday denied his involvement in the bribe offer issue. "I'm not at all involved in the bribery offer game. I'm ready to undergo and investigations in the entire episode. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is tarnishing image of Congress party and mine".

But among the heated exchange of allegations and charges, Home Minister informed newspersons about progress ion the case. Speaking to the newspersons, Minister for Home Himmat Kothari said, at present investigations in the case is in progress. As soon as investigations will be over, a case will be lodged".

Meanwhile, Independent Rajya Sabha nominee Vivek Tankha and SP MLA Kishore Samrite lodged their respective complaints in front of Election Commission.

According to Chief Election Commissioner J S Mathur, the Commission has received complaints from both the parties. The Commission has forwarded the complaints to the office of Election Commission of India office for necessary action. The Police are yet to record statement of SP MLA, Kishore Samrite who created a sensation on Tuesday evening by alleging name of former Congress Minister paying him Rs 10 lakh as bribe to cast vote in support of Independent candidate Vivek Tankha.

"Since morning I waited to record my statements. Now, I'm leaving to my Assembly seat to attend one function. I will return on March 21and then only my statements could be recorded", he said.
