Iftekhar cricket tourney from tomorrow

Bhopal, Mar 18: Tata Indicom Cup Iftekhar Memorial Cricket Tournament-2008 would be organised under the aegis of Iftekhar Academy from March 20 at Bab-e-Ali ground. Former Director of Sports and Youth Welfare Department Yashovardhan Azad visited the ground about the preparation of the tournament. He all visited the newly established sports ground, badminton hall, gym etc and praised to the department for the efforts and development about it.

The tournament would be inaugurated by the Cricketer of Indian Cricket Team Irfan Pathan on March 20 at 8.30 am. The secretary of the Academy Hamidullah Khan Mamu informed that the tournament would be organised based on knot out and international rules would be followed. The match would be played for 40 overs.

The inaugural match would be played between Bhopal Divisional Cricket Association (BDCA) Chairman Eleven and Masters Eleven. The preparation is being conducted with the help of Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh and Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Around 8 teams will be taking part in the first phase of the tournament. The two teams of Bhopal Division would be selected based on the performance of the players for taking part in All India Cricket Tournament. On the occasion, the secretary of Bhopal Divisional Cricket Association Dr Shafkat Mohammad Khan, Vikas Kharadekar, Veena Sahu, Zunaid Kidwai, Mohammad Irfan and large number of eminent personalities were also present.
