Bhopal, Mar 18: There are many occasions for spreading happiness
among people. Id Milad-un-Nabi is one among them. Id Milad-un-Nabi
is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Hazrat
Muhammad (SAW) who propounded message of love and peace through
his preaching and deeds. Most of the devout Muslims celebrate
this occasion in their own styles. Bhopal Today Team talked
to some Muslims to know their views about Id Milad-un-Nabi
and their ways to celebrate the occasion.
Padmashri Bashir Badr, while expressing happiness over the festival to be celebrated next Friday, said that it was really an occasion to thank the Almighty who bestowed on us his blessings in the form of Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) on this day. Worship on this day has its own importance. It is also a day for resolve to follow the path of virtuousness, love and peace shown to us by the Messenger of Allah. On this day people should give message of peace and brotherhood to others and help the poor people and have-nots. He said that he would celebrate this festival by doing the same apart from paying respect to elders.
Urdu Academy joint secretary Iqbal Masood said that the meaning of Id is happiness. And this happiness and joy pertains to the birth of Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) on this day more than 1400 years ago. The Messenger of Allah gave us the message to live amicably with peace and brotherhood, honesty and righteousness. We should celebrate Id Milad-un-Nabi by following the same ideals. This is occasion to help hapless and poor people as was done by Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) during his lifetime apart from offering special prayers.
Mumtaz Khan said that this was an occasion to express one's religious fervour and happiness. On this day delicious dishes are prepared in most of the Muslim houses. Happiness knocks at the door of followers of Islam on this day and special prayers are offered. He said that after winding up his daily chores, he would offer special worship in the night and celebrate the occasion with family and friends.
Hasan Mustafa is the computer incharge of Urdu Acadmy. According to him, this day is very significant and important for Muslims as Messenger of Allah, Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) was born on this day. Muslims as well as entire humanity must draw inspiration from this occasion to live harmoniously and amicably and take a pledge to help poor, downtrodden and orphans as was practised by Hazrat Muhammad (SAW). On this occasion people should try to convey the message of peace, love and brotherhood to others as was preached and practised by the Messenger of Allah. Helping a poor person is the real worship of God, he added. People must worship on this occasion and take a pledge to cleanse their hearts and mind of evil and evil thoughts.
Litterateur Muhammad Anees Ansari said that Muslims must practice in their daily life what had been laid down by Hazrat Muhammad (SAW). If Muslims lead a clean and virtuous life, it would send a good signal to other communities also. Not only on this day, but everyday Muslims must keep away from sins and do good deeds. They must convey the message of Allah and Rasool (SAW) of living harmoniously and amicably without indulging in sinful and amorous acts and without harming others. These are the paths which lead to peace of mind and soul. I would celebrate this occasion with utmost happiness, he said and would try my best to help some poor and hapless persons.
