Jamuna's remark on `ladli laxmi' creates furour in Assembly

By Our Staff Reporter

Bhopal, Mar 17: Assembly on Monday witnessed an uproarious scene over a statement of the leader of opposition, Jamuna Devi at Shivni Malwa yesterday wherein she had allegedly made a remark against the state government's `Ladli Laxmi Yojna' saying that the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will elope with his `ladli laxmi'.

Raising the issue in the state assembly, Sudha Jain of the BJP demanded an apology from the leader of Opposition, Jamuna Devi for making a `derogatory' remark against the Chief Minister. She was also joined by her other party MLAs including Lalsingh, Usha Thakur, who described the statement of Jamuna Devi as shameful. The din over Jamuna Devi's remarks on the `Ladli Laxmi Yojna', prompted the Congress MLAs to come in support of their leader.

The Congress MLAs Sajjan Singh Verma, Arif Akil and others stood up and tried to obstruct the ruling party MLAs to rake up the issue. This caused a commotion in the whole House. All attempts of Speaker Ishwardas Rohani to cool down the surcharged atmosphere of the House amidst the charges and counter-charges of the Opposition as well as the ruling party MLAs turned in vain, thereby forcing the Speaker to adjourn the House for about 10 minutes.

However, as soon as the House proceedings recommenced, the ruling party MLAs including the state urban development minister, Narottam Mishra were once again seen on their toes and started raking up the issue. Not able to control the frayed temper of ruling party MLAs, the Speaker asked state minister, Narottam Mishra to speak on the issue on the plea that the Congress MLAs will also be given opportunity to speak on the issue. But the Congress MLAs Sajjan Singh Verma and Arif Akil once again stood up and did not allow Mishra to say anything on the issue.
