Gauhar Mahal glitters with art

Bhopal, Mar 17: Gauhar Mahal is glittering with the presence of women artists who came from the various corner of the state to exhibit their art here at Swayamsidhha Mela. In this exhibition artistic objects made of ceramic, terracotta and embroidery created by women are displayed for sale.

Lata Chauhan, who hails form Badwani is working in the filed of Ayurveda medicine. She said that she has been working in this field since her childhood. Now she has attained so much expertise that shw is guiding other girls in this trade.

Shanta is working in this field for the last 25 years. She said that she yearned for name and fame. She said that it is her traditional means of livelihood and culture too. Shanta said that she would teach this work to her sons and daughters but never force her decision on them. She said that people praised her work with open heart.

Eighteen-year-old Anita, besides her studies, is working in the field of Jute Jewellery. For last four years she is guiding other girls in this field.

Afsana, a resident of Jhabua said that she has yet to go a long way to yield name and fame in this art. Meanwhile Durgabai who hails from Ujjain has also made name and fame. She said that it is not only art for us but also means of livelihood.

Chhaya Pawar who came from Haushangabad to participate in this Mela, started her career in paper work after completing her tenth class. She said that she has been awarded many times for her work and is proud of her work of art. She added that it is her traditional job and she is happy with it.
