Bhopal, Mar 16: 'Bhopal Haat' is witnessing National Handloom Expo-2008 which is beingorganised by M.P. Handicrafts and Handloom Development Corporation.

This national-level event started on February 28 and would conclude on March 19. Weavers from different parts of the country like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Bhadohi and Banaras have gathered here to display artwork. Atharva who has come from Uttar Pradesh and is an expert of silk work, says, ' A lot of customers come to us asking for silk Saris. There response and appreciation gives us strength and pleasure'.

Tops from Banaras and Kurtas are very much in demand in this exhibition. Housewife Geeta Bhavsar, who was buying 'Kurtas' from Haat says, 'The rates are fixed here and that is why there is no scope of bargaining. We get good items when rates are fixed'. On the other hand, Lecturer Mridula finds everything in the 'Haat' appealing. She is impressed by carpets from Bhadohi which are available in the price range of 500 to 40000 Rupees. Similarly, a student of MSc Abhilasha says that items available in this exhibition are unique.

A shopkeeper from Indore says, 'We have got suit material of Batik at a very affordable price. Besides this, Nightie of Batik, Top and Kurtas are also available at reasonable price. We are getting tremendous response from customers'.
