Holi is the festival of colours and is celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervour in almost all parts of the country. This festival stands for unity, harmony and amity among society members. People from all walks of life and sections of the society anxiously wait for this festival. This is such a festival which makes them forget tensions and grudges against fellow beings. There is a song of film 'Sholay' which goes as 'Holi ke din dil khil jatein hain, Rango mein rang mil jatein hain'. It aptly says everything about the importance of this festival. This festival works to cement social relationships. Celebrating Holi is an unforgettable and memorable experience. On the eve of Holi, we interviewed some celebrities and they shared their experiences about their first Holi celebration.
First Holi in childhood
'Holi is the festival of colours. It should be celebrated by forgetting all types of differences. I congratulate all on this occasion. I celebrated my first Holi in my childhood. I don't remember those days but it must be with my friends', says Mahendra Singh Chauhan, Chairman, TTTI'.
Unique experience of Holi
Archana Shrivastava, National President of Savarna Samaj Party says, 'I celebrated first Holi in my childhood. In those times, our world was full of mischievous activities. The Holi of 1983 is still in my memory when I applied colour to all my family members while they were asleep. When my turn came, I locked the bathroom from inside and stayed there for an hour. No one could apply colour on my face'.
Don't remember first Holi
I don't remember when did I play my first Holi, says Krishnakanta Tomar, president, State Women's Commission. Explaining the importance of celebrating Holi, she says 'This is the festival of colours, which makes people forget tensions and remove ill will. We should celebrate it harmoniously. This festival brings people near to each other which is good for social unity'.
First Holi was frightening
Dr Vinay Mishra, a psychoanalyst says, 'Despite my will, I was not allowed to play Holi considering that I was very small. In those times, there used to be gangs. I could not escape from one of the gangs and consequently, everyone applied colours all over my body. Those gang members were looking horrifying as colours were applied on their whole body'.
First Holi at maternal house
Amit Chapra, member, State Women Commission's says, 'Holi is my favourite festival and I anxiously wait for it. Its arrival enhances excitement. This is festival of colours and should be celebrated together, peacefully. In Hindu families, groom goes to her maternal house (Maika) on first Holi. So did I. I celebrated my first Holi with tremendous enthusiasm'.
