Bhopal, Mar 16:
"The Gujarat 2007 debacle is a loss for the Congress party- the so called secular party of our country. And even in Madhya Pradesh, Congress will never fight for the minorities, Dalits as in the recent years the party has confined to only 'principals", said social activist Teesta Setalvad.
The Congress party may have adopted words like secular/socialist when it came into existence. But in present circumstances, such words appear only 'principally', she added.
Narrating the incidence of Bilkis Bano, who got justice on January 21 this year. Teesta said, after getting the justice Bilkis Bano said, the justice costed me to change house for more then 300 times during the course of trial.
But during such a long period what forced the secular minded people and the political party's to keep away from me?
Now, my question form the secular party- Congress is - what has forced them not to come forward and give her security after she got justice ?
Since the day of judgement not a single MP, MLA or a Congressmen has ever visited her.
The Supreme Court has earlier pulled up social activist
Teesta Setalvad for writing an article regarding delay on
part of the judiciary in Godhra-related cases. The transfer
of Godhra-related cases was kept pending for four years.
Undeterred by such criticism, Teesta said, if the Supreme Court hearing cases to 84 Sikh riots have come on time there would not have been incidence like Godhra or communal riots in the country.
The delay and twist in the 1984 Sikh riot case allowed people like Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thakrey, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to win elections, she charged.
It is not the political parties who challenged the growth and rise of Hindu fundamental organizations in the country. But it was the secular minded person like you and me who raised voices and time to time opposed about the misconduct and growth of organization like Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad. They are the one who are drawing thick line of communalism in the country, she alleged.
