JSY benefits over one lakh women

Bhopal, Mar 16: 1,06,421 women have been extended benefit of Janani Suraksha Yojana launched in the state for promoting institutional delivery. Under the scheme a pregnant woman of rural area is given Rs 1,400 for institutional delivery and her urban counterpart gets Rs one thousand.

Under the project, 25 thousand 739 women have been benefited in Gwalior district, 27 thousand 520 in Shivpuri district, 25 thousand 651 in Guna district, 15 thousand 697 in Ashok Nagar district and 11 thousand 814 women have been benefited in Datia district.

Those pregnant women are given benefit who deliver child after getting admitted in the general ward of government hospital. Women belonging to BPL families and scheduled tribes and scheduled castes are also given the benefit on delivering child in any recognised medical institution. The lump sum amount under the project is given away after the delivery. The government hospital provides all the services and medicines free of cost. Besides, the woman who motivates a pregnant woman for institutional delivery, is provided Rs 600 incentive money in rural areas and Rs 200 in urban areas. Janani Suraksha Yojana is under implementation in all the medical colleges, district hospitals and all other identified government hospitals where 24-hour delivery facility is available. Besides, benefit of Janani Suraksha Yojana can be availed at recognised private hospitals also.
