Nandigram, Mar 15: Activists of the CPI (M) and Trinamool Congress clashed in Nandigram on Saturday, a day after opposition parties observed the first anniversary of the police firing that claimed 14 lives here. According to the two parties, however, six were injured.CPI (M) leader Ashok Bera claimed that Trinamool men beat two of their workers up when they were passing the area on a motorbike.

Trinamool Congress, on the other hand, said four of its workers were beaten up by CPI (M) activists after an altercation among them at a tea stall.

"They brought sticks camps from a CPI (M) party office at Chowrangi Bazar and beat up our men," Trinamool MLA Sisir Adhikari alleged. The superintendent of police said no any party lodged complaint and no arrest was made.
