The poly clinic in the name of Swami Vivekananda Netra Chikitsalaya at the Ramkrishna ashram in MP Nagar, Bhopal, has been serving the common people for the last ten years. This work has been supported by a host of known and unknown people. Sant Asaramji Maharaj was one of the inspiring spirits in this project.
The services of ex-secretary of Ram Krishna ashram Shri Govendranand were very commendable. In spite of all odds he brought the clinic to the present position. Timely financial aid from the State Bank of India, Bhopal, has stimulated us to work.
Further with the help of the state government, a DOT centre (Direct Observation Treatment centre) for tuberculosis patients has started functioning at the clinic.
It has benefited the poor sections of the society. With change of time, the management of the ashram is now in the hands of respected sant from Velur Math Sri Bhavrupnandji Maharaj (now the ashram is no more a private institution but is directly linked with Velur Math. We are gradually progressing in our objectives. Everything appears nice and wonderful from outside but a review of the work of progress of the clinic does not show the expected results in terms of total turnover of the patients.
Overall, the good efforts being done by the members of the clinic are under utilized by the common public. The poly clinic has very good facilities for the treatment of common diseases. We have good arrangements for outdoor patients department along with pathology section which has all the required equipment. It may appear that a spiritual institution like Ramkrishna Math is not bothered about the attendance of the patients and reply is very simple - howsoever we might want to do Nish Kam sewa, if sewak has nobody to serve then what happens to the objectives?
The ashram is not that self-sufficient to give everything free to the patients. With minimum fees the clinic is providing services. However, it cannot help the government servants get their charges reimbursed. The clinic people have approached the state government to treat their clinic at par with other similar institutions running in the city. It is hoped the government also gives recognition to the clinic so that its servants are able to avail the services with fees being reimbursed.
The clinic has a brilliant track record. It will ever remember the services rendered by late Dr Raizada. Now, young ophthalmologist Dr Mrs Damley along with Dr Mrs Mishra are rendering their services here. Dr Mathur and Dr Shrivastava are providing their services in the field of surgery and medicine. Dr Mrs Maya Pathak too has joined the poly clinic for treatment of female patients. Our humble request to everybody is to visit this unit at least once. To visit the clinic you need not be ill but our unit is a spiritual ashram and we also deal in spiritual medicine. Every healthy and unhealthy person needs the same in this modern world of stress.
