Pathan to open tourney: Iftekhar Memorial Cricket from March 20

Bhopal, Mar 13: Iftekhar Cricket Academy is to going to organise Iftekhar Memorial Cricket Tournament-2008 from March 20 at Bab-E-Ali Cricket Stadium. This tournament affiliated with Bhopal Divisional Cricket Association and Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association, Indore. The great all rounder of Indian Cricket Team Irfan Pathan will inaugurate the tournament on March 20 at 8.30 am (40 over match with one-day International rules). The inaugural match would be played between Bhopal Divisional Cricket Association Chairman Eleven and Bhopal Masters Eleven.

The stadium is getting prepared by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare and Bhopal Municipal Corporation. This year the event has been directed to provide a platform to Bhopal based cricketers, where 8 top teams of the city will participate. BDCA officials and observers will also use this opportunity to identify the local talent through the competition.

Sports persons trial from April 8

Bhopal, Mar 13: In Sports Authority of India's Center of Excellence Center, Bhopal is imparting training to sports persons in Athletics (Middle and Long Distance) and Hockey disciplines. For the Session 2008-09 the selection trials of eligible elite sports persons will be held from April 8 to 10, 2008 at SAI Sports Complex, Gram Gora, Bhishenkhedi.

For the participation in the selection process, the sports persons should be in age group of 17 to 25 years can submit their applications or before March 30, 2008. The applicants should be in the best six positions in Senior National and Junior National, who is at the brim of entering the senior level sports competitions.

The selected sports persons will be provided training in the center up to 200 days in the year, free boarding/lodging, sports kit, insurance, expenses on competition exposure etc by the Sports Authority of India. The applicants have to bring original achievement certificate, date of birth and educational qualification proof, NOC from the employer in case of employed sports persons. No expenses towards travel, boarding/lodging etc will be borne by SAI for participation in the selection trials.

Application for the above selection can be obtained from the office of the Assistant Director, Sports Authority of India, Sports Complex, Gram Gora or Administrative Office of SAI Training Center, Opposite Mayur Park, Tulsi Nagar on all the working days between 11 am to 5 pm.
