Intl level airports in MP: Realise citizens' dreams

Bhopal and Indore airport will get recognition as international airport within one year. Plans are also afoot for modernisation of Jabalpur, Khajuraho and Gwalior airports. Union Aviation ministry has sanctioned funds worth Rs seven hundred crore for the purpose. This decision is appreciable.
In the renovation of Raja Bhoj airport runway will be increased from 6000 feet to 9000 feet and modern technical terminals will be established there.
Yet the question arises what is use of increasing runway by only 3000 metres as on the runway of 9000 feet neither 747 Boeing airplane can take off nor can it land on this runway. Hence there is need for searching another option for an international airport at Bhopal. Another land could be acquired for the airport somewhere between Bhopal and Sanchi. Due to increasing population it is difficult to get land for international modern airport in the centre of the city. Raja Bhoj airport has also some limitations for its expansion so it cannot be either option for international airport.
Large commercial airports are usually away from the dense city. Bangalore, Hyderabad and Delhi airports have been developed well and are benchmarks of modern airport. The new airport should be able to fulfill our future demands.
Same way, Indore airport runway expansion will start from March 15, basic and modern facilities will be increased there. The airport would be developed in such a way so as to fulfill our future needs. It is good news that besides Bhopal and Indore airports, Khajuraho and Jabalpur airports are also on the agenda for upgradation. For the present renovation of these airports is needed, yet there is need for an international airport in the state. The State also needs to consider the advice of Union aviation minister to reduce its tax on air traffic fuel so as to give a boost to increased flight services in the state.
