Musharraf's kind act

Both Pak President, Parvez Musharraf and his interior minister deserve our sincere thanks and praise for freeing condemned prisoner, Kashmira Singh who had been rotting in the Lahore prison for the last 30 years allegedly on the charge of spying. During prolonged incarceration in a small isolation cell, Kashmira Singh lost his mental balance and memory and is said to be in a very bad state of health. It was the Interior Minister of Pakistan who during his round of the jail noticed sick and lost Kashmira Singh and brought his plight to the notice of the President and pleaded for his release. On being freed, Kashmira Singh is expected to join his family in a day or two.

As his family is too poor to provide post-release care and treatment that may take several months, the Government of Punjab will do well to ensure that Kashmira Singh is given the best possible medical care so that he gets back his mental equilibrium soon and returns to his family in good health and spends the rest of his life happily.
