Bhopal, Mar 11:
The Madhya Pradesh Assembly on Tuesday witnessed noisy scenes with the main Opposition party - Congress staging a walkout accusing the government of protecting corrupt officials.
During the Question Hour, Congress MLA Premchand Guddu raised the issue of granting lease to Indore's Regal Talkies. He alleged that the Government was protecting corrupt officials, on account of whom, property worth Rs 100 crore had been encroached upon. Instead of taking action against the officials, Government was trying to protect them, he alleged.
Replying to his question, the state urban development minister, Narrotam Mishra denied the charges and maintained that an order to remove encroachment had been issued. Mishra said that on the basis of first hand report, three officers have been suspended, while one officer Ashok Bhargav has been served show cause notice. Disciplinary action against these officials negated the charge that the government was protecting corruption officials, the minister said.
Unsatisfied with his replies, Guddu demanded suspension of Bhargav and walked out of the House. He was also joined by other Congress MLAs in the walk-out.
The Assembly witnessed another walkout for delay in the construction of Crystal Information Technology Park in Indore. Raising the question, Congress MLA Ashwin Joshi alleged that Government failed to construct Crystal IT Park even after getting extensions to complete the work. He said the construction company Nagarjun which was blacklisted and served a penalty of Rs 4 crore, was awarded many other contracts in the commercial capital of the State.
In reply to the question, state commerce and industry minister, Jayant Malaiya said he would take necessary action in this regard. Against the Congress MLAs were not satisfied with his reply and staged a walk-out.
