A life devoted to arts

Bhopal, Mar 11: Raja Saini, is a personality who is fully devoted to Arts, literature and music. One cannot ignore his name, if we talk about either arts or literature or music or direction. He has made a unique standing in these fields. He has worked with Ramanand Sagar for seven years and assisted in the direction of the films named 'Dil Hi To Hai, Waqt Hamara Hai, King Uncle, Kanya Daan and Panah. He has made several documentaries for Television.

Raja with a desire to do something different, carved all chapters of the Geeta on stone in a short duration of two years. Born at Damoh in 1960, Raja did not take any formal training to excel in the field of arts. He is the only member in his family who has earned a good name in various faculties of arts.

A man of determination, these days, Raja is fully absorbed in making records of painting. In a programme, organised by Women and Child Development Department, Raja is going to do painting for 24 hours, without eating anything. Bhopal Today Team interviewed him to know more about his passion for arts.

Q. What made you think of doing painting for 24 hours?

A. I always wanted to something in life which is unique and distinct. I am fully devoted to arts which make me forget about my meals'.

Q. Out of music, literature and painting, which one is your favourite?

A. I am simply an artist. The aim of my life is to live and die for arts only. Art is everything for me. One cannot compare faculties of arts'.

Q. What are you doing to transfer arts to young generation?

A. I am teaching youths for the extension of arts. I do it free of charge. You can see my paintings from the house of Ramanand Sagar to Ajay Devgan. I have made paintings of children of film stars like Paresh Rawal, Kadar Khan, Divya Bharti and Ajay Devgan.

Q. Which project are you working on, these days?

A. I am doing research on Sai Baba of Shirdi. I have made 25 portraits of Sai Baba which are nowhere in the world. This 200- page research work would be completed by 2008.

Q. What are your favourite areas of work?

A. I work on women creativity and its possibilities. I feel that woman still, has to cover a long journey. In future too, I will be working on woman and pictures of 'Vedas'. There is still a belief that women cannot read 'Vedas' which I wish to remove'.

Q. Who is your source of inspiraton?

A. My mother is my source of motivation. She was a singer. I have worked as an orchestra artist for 20 years. Along with music, I have worked in the field of literature.
