Sensex ends down 52pts, Bharti gains 9%

The Sensex opened with a huge negative gap of 292 points at 15,684 on weak global cues. Follow-up selling saw the index slide to a low of 15,362 - down 614 points from the previous week.

New Delhi, Mar 10:
Japan on Monday approved a package of about Rs 7,074 crore in the form of soft loan assistance for projects in the areas of power, transportation, water supply and environment in India.

Indian Oil Corp on Monday said the move to withdraw tax holiday to new refineries will result in lowering of profitability of its Rs 24,000-crore Paradip refinery in Orissa.
 
`No contractual obligation to give spectrum beyond 6.2 MHz`  

New Delhi, Mar 10:
There was no "contractual agreement" between the government and telecom operators to allot spectrum beyond 6.2 MHz, a move that could hurt GSM players like Bharti, Vodafone and Idea Cellular, Telecom Minister A Raja told the Lok Sabha on Monday.
