Debate the issues thoroughly

Frequent disruptions of the Parliamentary debates and tone and tenor of interjections of some of the members of the opposition and equally boisterous response of the Treasury benches, sloganeering, threatening gesticulations, loud verbal protests and walk outs have lowered the dignity of the august House. It bodes ill for the future of the democracy in India. It is sad that even the apparently sober members of the House on both sides of the major political divide have done little to reverse the trend and instead supported those contributing to the rapid decline and decay.

The Speaker recently expressed his distress at the prevailing state of affairs by calling upon the disruptionists not to destroy the democracy and do the job they had been entrusted by the people who sent them to the House. 2008 Budget has just been presented to the House. There are several issues that need close attention and thorough debating before adoption. Trust this will be done and hopefully the budget will not passed without discussion after walk out by the opposition as has happened many times in the past.
