Top Hizbul militant killed

Jammu, March 9: A self-styled tehsil commander of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit was killed in a gunbattle with security forces in Kishtwar district on Sunday.

On a tip off, a joint party of Rashitriya Rifles and police launched a search operation in Kuchall area of Chatru tehsil in Kishtwar district.

In the subsequent encounter, the militant identified as Kasim Gujjar alias Babbar, a self-styled commander of HM, outfit was killed.

A pistol and grenade were recovered from the slain militant.

Reports from Reasi district said two HM ultras, Anzar Ahmed and Mumtaz, laid down their arms at Arnas police station.

Ahmed was active in militancy since 2002, while Mumtaz had joined the HM outfit last year.
