Sbharwal case: SC `no' to CBI probe

New Delhi, Mar 8: Seeking transfer of the trial from Ujjain to Delhi, murdered professor H S Sabharwal's son, Himanshu Singh, wanted CBI probe into the case as witness after witness, including policemen, were turning hostile.

On Friday, a Bench comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat and P Sathasivam expressed its disinclination to entrust the case to CBI for a fresh probe, but appeared to favour transfer of the trial outside the state.

Though it discussed in detail with the counsel for both sides about feasibility of transferring the trial to Nagpur and the manner in which the trial court could summon the witnesses afresh for recording their statements, it reserved its verdict on the petition.
