It is rightly said that woman has the competence to change and create history. March 8 is celebrated as International Women's Day to salute the contribution of women in creating this world and its history. To celebrate March 8 as International Women's Day, a programme called 'Swayam Siddha Award' was organised during women empowerment function at local Samanvaya Bhavan.
In this programme, 11 women who have made record contribution in their own respective fields, were felicitated. Among them, leader of the opposition, Jamuna Devi was feted for fighting for the cause of women on state level. Social worker, Malti Joshi who is proficient in Hindi and Marathi languages and author of more that 40 published books was honoured in this function. One cannot forget to felicitate social worker Suraj Kumari, who painstakingly saved little girls from prostitution.
Pushpa Sihare, Congress leader Ruby Khan, Asha Rajput, district president Women Congress Vidisha were also felicitated on this occasion.
Rekha Karad, a multi-faceted personality, who has achieved several feats in the field of singing despite being a physically challenged was also felicitated during the programme. Ira Parihar, despite of being mentally handicapped, is a brilliant swimmer was also honoured in the function. After earning a good name in the field of sports, she is presently working on the post of Traffic Police Sub Inspector. Bhawna Shrivastava, Professor, M.L.B. College, Bhopal, is a writer and a guide to many research scholars. She was awarded with 'Swayam Siddha Priyadarshini Award'. She was praised for her selfless service and works for the society'.
