Shreemad Lord Krishna Devaswom Samiti is celebrating Kumbha Bharani on March 11 at 7:00 pm at Shree Madhya Guruvayoorappan Temple, with the performance of a grant Bhagawati Seva by the Melshanthi of the Temple.
Bagavathi Pooja is performed for prosperity, wealth, moneyor any other things we need in day today life. Mother Parashakthi (Durga) is also known as Bhagavathi. She is worshipped as Bhagavathi in most of the temples in Kerala and Dakshina Karnataka. Bhagavathi Seva is a special type of puja based on "Tantrik Principles". This Seva is performed both at home and in temples only after the sunset. A big oil lamp is kept on the Isodashadala Padmam Chakra (16 petal Lotus Chakra) drawn on a clean floor or wooden platform using rice Powder, Turmeric powder and Red Kumkum.
The puja invokes the Divine Mother to the center of the Padmam through Tantrik and Agama rituals and chantings. The Puja has to be performed with utmost devotion and concentration. Pooja includes chanting of Lalitha Sahasra Namam, Lalitha Thrisathi mantra, Durga Sooktham, Soundarya Lahari, Mantra Parayanam and Durga Saptha Sathi 's 11th Chapter. When performed properly, the Divine Mother enters the center of the Padma Chakra and blesses the devotees.The devotees can actually feel Her presence through the charged atmosphere in the puja area provided they concentrate on the puja.
Sri Durga Devi is worshiped with 16 types of offerings, and then 108 namavalies (names) are chanted with red flowers. During the Pooja, Durga Sookta will be chanted.
Cooked rice, Ghee, and Special Twigs are used to perform this Pooja. Friday or Tuesday are very auspicious days for performing the Durga Sookta. This Homam is highly recommended for success in life and to avoid bad dreams. It also brings forth a peaceful Mind and good health.
Dr.S.A.Pillai president of the Guruvayur temple in a press release stated that this puja is one of the most auspicious ritul and Bagavathi Pooja is performed on Fridays especially in the this month of Kumba Masam for bestowing prosperity, good health, and wealth. While anyone may sponsor and participate in the Seva, only trained priests may perform this puja since it involves both tantrik and agamic principles of worship.
CA Nair confirmed that the temple has made a special arrangement to seek the blessing of Lord Devi on this day. Special Abishekam also can be offered to Guruvaurappan on this day.
