Int Conf on globalisation from today

Bhopal, Mar 6: The Department of Regional Planning and Economic, Barkatullah University is organising the 2nd three-day international conference of the Deccan Geographical Society on globalisation, technology and economic transformation at Gyan Vigyan Bhawan from March 7 at 10 am. Former Vice Chancellor of the University Dr Ram Prasad will be the chief guest while Dr Sompal Shastri, chairman of State Planning Board and economic advisor to the government of Madhya Pradesh will be the special guest. Vice Chancellor of the University Bhupal Singh will preside over the function.

According to an official press statement, about 250 delegates from all over the country and abroad are expected to participate in the conference. Delegates from Aligarh Muslim University, Benaras Hindu University, Delhi University, Pune University, Karnataka University, Osmania University, Mumbai University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Kolkata University, Bihar University, North East University, NATMO and all the universities of Madhya Pradesh are expected to participate in the conference. The conference is inter disciplinary in nature in which scholars from economics, geography, political science, management, environmental science and other social science will take part in the deliberations. GIS and remote sensing papers will focus on economic and environmental issues, the release added.

The papers will be presented by the scholars representing the universities of Iran, Nigeria, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The sub themes covered are globalisation, industrialisation, deindustrialisation, convergence, divergence, urbanization and agriculture.
