About five dacoits on Tuesday night struck at a businessman's house in Piplani area by breaking the grills of the main gate and decamped with gold ornaments, two mobile sets and cash after injuring the wife of the house owner when she tried to oppose them.
According to police, Ravindra Nath Mukherjee (45) resident of H.No.64, Radha Kunj, Khajuri road has his fabrication shop near Semara gate which is a lonely area and houses are built at 100-200 metre distance. Ravindranath lives there with his wife Mousmi Mukherjee and two children Subodeep (14) and Aniruddha (4).
According to police sources, last night five dacoits entered into the house breaking the main gate grill at around 3.30 am. when they were leading towards the drawing room, the Mukherjee family woke up but the dacoits surrounded them and demanded key of the almirah.
Ravindranath handed over the key of almirah without any protest. Later the dacoits took out Rs 7 thousand in cash and gold jewellery including chain, rings and other ornaments and tried to snatch Mangal sutra and ear rings from Mousmi Mukherjee. When Mousmi opposed the miscreants assaulted her with a road and injured her. After committing loot incident up to 15-20 minutes, they fled from the spot.
Police station in charge, RR Bansal said that the dacoits had demanded Rs 5 lakh from Mukherjee couple.
