SC lifts ban on Jodhaa Akbar

Agencies

New Delhi, Mar 4: The Supreme Court on Tuesday lifted the ban imposed on the screening of Jodhaa Akbar in different parts of the country till March 14.

A Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan passed an interim order while hearing a petition filed by the producer of the film.

The distributor of the movie, UTV Software Communication, contended that the film has been banned in Uttar Pradesh and various cities of Haryana and Uttarakhand allegedly for political reasons.

UTV's petition complained that the censor board cleared the film for public viewing after ascertaining that it was not against the sovereignty or integrity of India, security of the country, friendly relations with foreign states, public order, decency or morality.
