The 37th National Safety Day was celebrated at Raj Bhawan on Tuesday. The programme was chaired by Governor Dr Balram Jakhar. People from various industrial organisations took the pledge on this auspicious day, which was administrated by the Governor at 11.35 am.
The programme was attended by Jagdish Devade ministers for Labour, RK Singh, Executive Director BHEL, KK Singh Secretary to Governor, DP Singh Dy Labour Secretary, NK Jain Director (IH&S), MC Prasad, General Manager (HR & Safety) & Chairman NSC MP Chapter, MK Dubey, General Manager (Hydro), Prabhat Kumar GM BHEL, Deendayal GM BHEL and RD Tripathi, Vice Chairman, NSC Mumbai, RK Soni Joint Diector (IH&S). The officials from BHEL, the department of Industrial Health and Safety, Members from Industries and Trade Union representatives also attended this programme.
This auspicious day is aimed at renewing commitment of Managements, Employees and General Public towards working safely round the year. The ultimate objective is to ensure integration of Health, Safety and Environment in the work culture and day-to-day activities. The campaign has been receiving full support from the Central as well as State governments over the years. NSC MP Chapter through its five action centres spreading the message of safety through out the state.
Dr Jakhar in his speech appreciated the efforts of BHEL for sustainable development and its contribution towards the growth of the country. He expressed that pledge taken is rededication of individual towards their commitment to safety irrespective to their field of activity. Safety is much valued technology required in all field of activities. He expressed that utmost important factor in safety is discipline. He also expressed his happiness towards the efforts of NSC for creating awareness on Safety issues. He expect that all will take the message of safety to their work place and ensure implementation of safety regulation.
Earlier in the programme, RD Tripathi, President INTUC and National Vice Chairman NSC welcomed all the members. He emphasized on prevention of Road accident and expressed this concern for water pollution in lakes. RK Singh, Executive Director, BHEL, highlighted the theme of this year "ENSURE SAFE AND HEALTHY WORK PLACES". The theme is relevant in the wake of recent man-made and natural disasters faced by the Nation. He appealed to all to organize activities during the Campaign focusing this theme which would help in making the work place more eco-friendly and ensure safety to Men, Machine, Material and Methods. He wished all the success for the programmes organised by all the industry on this occasion.
MC Prasad proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was co-ordinated by Dr SA Pillai, Secretary, National Safety Council.
