Highly unmanageable population

With due respect to all ethnic groups, opinion-builders and decision-makers, I wish to strongly maintain that our highly unmanageable population is, in fact, the main block for our progress and not at all an asset. Facts speak. In 1947 i.e. when India became independent, out country's population was 30 crores. In 2008, it is 110+ crores. It has risen at a galloping speed and continues to rise even faster. It is highly unmanageable and therefore we see much greater social, economic and ethnic strifes, astronomical increase in crimes, terrorism and everyone up against the other - hallmarks of present times. All this because of unmanageable population which is disastrous for a developing country.

On the other hand, US population in 1947 was 20 crores. In 2008, it is 22 crores. No wonder, hallmarks of good governance are prominent in US. US has attained No. 1 position. It is the world's Super Power. With population which is one-fifth of the population of India, US is prosperous, highly advanced in all areas - science, technology, engineering, space, medicine etc. etc. US Government policies aim at keeping control on population and not letting this rise at a galloping speed.

I know it for certain that large number of voices will be raised against my stand of unmanageable population being a curse and not a boom. But, then, all those raising such a voice are surely not well-wishers of the country. They are not interested in the counry's progress and peoples' prosperity but in remaining in seats of power no matter whether the country goes down and down or goes up. An alarm signal. Will UPA Government wake up and stem the rot. The Government has still one full year to go.
