New hopes from Pakistan: Strong coalition govt needed

Pakistan People's Party (PPP) in neighbouring Pakistan is preparing to form a new government. The joint president of PPP, Asif Ali Zardari has opined that the solution to the Kashmir issue be left on the new generation. In his interview to a news channel, he said that leaving out the Kashmir issue we should work towards strengthening mutual relations and trade ties with India. Asif Ali Zardari also said that solution to the Kashmir issue was unlikely with military government in saddle in Pakistan. How much progress was there in solution of J-K during 8 years of military rule in Pakistan, asked Zardari. The relations of both the countries cannot be sacrificed on the Kashmir issue. Asif Ali Zardari who is impressed by the UPA president, Sonia Gandhi, said that he could not be equal to her. He has great respect for Sonia Gandhi. He also wishes to play the same role in Pakistan as of Sonia Gandhi vis-à-vis coalition government. PPP wants to give command to such a coalition government which can go ahead with its several allies. Zardari has expressed hope that when the new Prime Minister would get invitation from India then he would visit India with all the political party leaders. With this initiative of Zardari a new hope has emerged that Indo-Pakistan relations would yield new leaves. There is no doubt that India has been in favour of maintaining good relations with neighbouring countries. Earlier too, India had not lagged behind in taking initiatives for maintaining good relations with Pakistan. It would be good if a powerful coalition government forms in Pakistan and according to the desire of Zardari the relations between both the countries on trade and mutual relations get strengthened.
