Bhopal, Mar 3:
In the present times, if one has to meet grand parents, paternal uncle and aunt then one has to go far from his native place. In this fast-paced and modern world, joint family is often taken as a bygone thing and people prefer to live in single family considering their own needs. In this advanced world, there are still some who are maintaining the age long tradition of joint family. For them, living in a joint family is not a burden but an excuse to increase happiness.
Preeti Mishra living in a joint family says 'In all, there are nine members in our family including father in law, brother as well as sister in law. There are numerous benefits of living in a joint family. Firstly, children get a good living environment and learn to adjust and sharing. Working parents need not give more attention to their children as there are many members at home to look after them. The elders in the family provide guidance and share valuable experiences. Her daughter Avani says 'Celebrating festivals in a joint family has its own charm. We are able to share our experiences with each other being living together under one roof'.
Dr Suresh Chandra Mishra says 'We all live together but don't impose our wishes on each other. We can give advice to young members but it is up to them to follow it or not. One should not feel bad if they don't follow advice. The key to live in joint family is that we must pay respect to each other's individuality and liking. The biggest advantage of living in a joint family is that we can share our life's experiences with grand children for their better future and we also get a lot of time to spend time with them.
