Madhya Pradesh defeat Punjab by 6-1 in the final of the five-day 21st All India Indian Postal Hockey Championship-2007-08 which began here on February 25 at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) premises, Bisenkhedi. Siraz-Ul-Haque, Mumtazuddin of Madhya Pradesh team scored three goals in 10th, 16th and 34th minutes of half time. Punjab team got opportunity for four penalty corners but they did not score only a goal. After Dharampal of Punjab team scored 1 goal in 47th minutes. Asad Kamal of Madhya Pradesh team scored 1 goal in 51st minutes and won the match by 6-1 goals.
Karnataka Team and Tamil Nadu team secured third and fourth position in the championship and Punjab team secured position runner up. On the occasion of concluding ceremony, under the chairmanship of the Chief Post Master General Madhu Narayanan distributed the trophy to the Madhya Pradesh as winner team. Punjab and other teams were given mementos.
Chief Post Master General said that the players put up excellent performance and proved that the young players would not stand behind in the national level championship. He assured that we would try to provide all kind of facilities to the players for putting up excellent performances. The programme was coordinated by the Coordinating Director, Postal Accounts Satish Kumar, Assistant Director and secretary of Madhya Pradesh Postal Sports Board Nannu Singh and Senior Superintendent, Post Office AK Yadav.
