Sinimol Paulose, Kuldev win titles

Bhopal, Feb 29: On the final day of 14th Federation Cup Senior Athletics Championships 2008, Sinimol Paulose of Jharkhand showed again her determination to win the event, she won gold by clocking the 4:23.71s ahead of Bindhu SR of Kerala (4:33.75) & Priyanka Singh Patel of UP ((4:34.22), last day she has already won 800m event. Sinimol Paulose & Kuldev Singh won the title of best female & male athlete by securing 1096 & 1112 points respectively in the 14th Federation Cup Athletics Championships.

In the pole vault event, Gajanan Upadhyay of Jharkhand won Gold Medal with a performance of 4.90m. He tried for 5.11m to break the National Record but was not successful.

In 10000m event, the winner of 5000m Surender Singh of Army Sports Control Board won this event also by clocking 29:52.69 followed by Santosh Patel of Jharkhand (30:10.91).

Delhi's Ravinder bet Chatoli Hamza to the second place in 1500m. Army's Hamza clocked a disappointing 3:52.38s. Ravinder timed 3:52.01s.

Jharkhand came here as the king by winning 11 Gold 3 Silver & 7 bronze while Army Sports Control Board came second with 7 gold 3 silver and 3 bronze. It is a very good sign for Jharkhand as Jharkhand is going to host the National Games this year.

Final results

Gajanan Upadhyay, Bimin KP and Sunder Singh secured first, second and third position respectively in 12 Men's Pole Vault. Virendra Kumar Pankaj, P Shankar and VB Binesh secured first, second and third position respectively in 3 Men's 400 Run. Seema Antil, Harwant Kaur and Saroj Sihag secured first, second and third position respectively in 36 Women's Discus Throw.

Chitra K Somaon, Mandeep Kaur and S Geetha secured first, second and third position respectively in 24 Women's 400 Run. Mayookha Johny, JJ Shobha and Prajusha MA secured first, second and third position respectively in 34 Women's Long Jump. Om Prakash, PB Giri and Satyender Kumar Singh secured first, second and third position respectively in 18 Men's Shot Put. Sinimole Paulose, Bindhu SR and Priyanka Singh Patel secured first, second and third position respectively in 26 Women's 1500 Run. Preeja Sreedharan, Kavita Raut and Preeti L Rao secured first, second and third position respectively in 28 Women's 10000 Run.
