Check use of petro products: Improve public transport

The Organisation of Petroleum Exporting countries(OPEC) has speculated that in next month production of crude oil would not be increased and as a result its prices touched $100 per barrel mark. Prices of crude oil on Tuesday registered 5 per cent increase. Last time when there was hike in price of crude oil the petrol and diesel price in India had been increased by two and one rupee. This had resultant increase in prices of essential commodities. With the hike in petro products transportation has become dearer. Seeing the rising prices of crude oil in international market, additional precautions are necessary. Otherwise, prices would be increase unwantedly. First way of checking any increase in petro products prices is to reduce consumption of oil and we should not be extravagant. Most of the petro products are used at government level and to lessen it the use of vehicles should be controlled. In most of the western countries, officials and employees are brought to and fro by bridge system. Under this scheme only one vehicle is used to carry the officials. This system is to be implemented in India too. Along with this private vehicles should be used rarely. Use of metro trains and buses should be increased. Bus or train facilities should be extended for the same so that people may give importance to public vehicles rather than using private vehicles. Traffic system should be provided with necessary facilities so that the people are attracted towards it automatically. Alternative energy sources should also be searched so that pressure on petro products could be lessened. The government should think on this matter seriously and initiate steps accordingly.
