Swasthya Darpan, a unique health awareness programme, was organised here on Friday by Amway India Enterprises. The event, first of its kind in the city, was attended by prominent medical professionals coming on a common platform to share their views and experiences on preventive healthcare and advantages of having right kind of nutritious diet.
Often people ignore the age old saying; "health is wealth" and continue in their rat race for creating wealth for themselves and their dear ones, overlooking the fact that this created wealth will not able to buy them good health
Amway India, designed an exclusive program with the sole objective of creating and enhancing awareness on maintaining good health. The mission was to impart knowledge on the subject through expert professionals, thereby promoting important aspects of preventive healthcare.
Commenting on the initiative, Achinta Banerjie, Vice President Amway India, West, stated, "Worldwide Amway is positioned as a health & beauty company and hence it is imperative for us to take up initiatives which translate our notion into action. In current times, with changes in our lifestyles it is important for all of us to maintain a healthy life systematic & nutritious diet, coupled with appropriate fitness regime. This event essentially focuses on these attributes."
The push button and easy lifestyle coupled with improper food intakes has made everyone lethargic. With almost no physical activities, people have invited variety of diseases . Hence its is strongly recommend people to invest on their health now by way of maintaining an adequate Nutritious Diet and Good fitness regime. These are two best ways to combat or rather prevent any unwanted ailments housing inside one's body.
On the occasion speaking on Health challenges in women, Dr Romika Kapoor Gynecologist said, "Often it is observed that a girl child is usually neglected, be it health, education, clothes and sports. Over period of time this may lead to deficiency of essential Irons, Vitamins and minerals, thereby suscepting to infections like Pneumonia, Tuberculosis, Gastroenterites etc. World over the Maternal Mortality rate is 5,15,000 per year and in India alone it stands at 1,36,000 per year. The main causes of maternal mortality in India are Haemorrahage, Anemia, Sepsis, Obstructed labour, unsafe abortion, Hypertensive disorders. Anaemia is often seen in ladies and an adequate intake of Iron, Vitamin B Complex and C, Proteins and Folic Acid can help its prevention. "
It is recommended that we choose the right kind of food, choosing variety of colored Fruits, grain products, fat free food items, toned milk and preferably low fat meats like Chicken & Fish. He firmly advised to limit or avoid smoking, Alcohol, Bakery products, milk fats like butter, Ghee, Cheese, etc which give rise to Saturated fats and Cholesterol in our bodies.
On child healthcare Dr. Rajesh Tikkas, Pediatrician commented, "Today's child is not only burdened with lots of books but also has to keep its pace with surrounding competition. More Television and limited sports has given rise to obesity in our children. The lack of necessary Vitamins, Minerals & Antioxidants in daily diet can be fulfilled by Dietary supplements and Nutraceuticals."
Dr .Pradeep Jain, Orthopedic Surgeon, suggested, " Good Bones & Muscles enable smooth mobility & good health, hence adequate intake of Calcium supplements coupled with appropriate exercise will lead to better life."
