Act fast on nuke deal: Next bus in 2010

Delay in the nuclear treaty with America is not beneficial for India. Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister of America, Nicolas Burns commenting on the unduly delay in implementation of the deal, said that it was only wastage of time. It is right that in the present circumstances this non-military nuclear deal should be considered with positive attitude. Burns had played a pivotal role in nuke deal issue. It may be noted that Burns is going to be freed from foreign affairs department in March this year. He desires that the deal should be completed during the tenure of US President George W Bush. Though the spokesman of White House says that America would continue to help India with a view to achieve target of deal, but American ambassador in India, Malford is in favour of completing Indo-American nuclear deal process during tenure of Bush. He emphasized that the deal is `now or never' as there is less possibility of finalising of the deal when the next government takes office. Mulford believes that the next American government would not review and offer this deal before 2010. On the other hand the supporters of CTBT would change their conditions or add some additional conditions. So this is the right time to complete it. The nuke deal is in favour of India and it would make India a centre of non-military nuclear industry. Even after executing nuclear deal India's right of nuclear test would be safe. If the deal is executed during the tenure of President Bush then its credit would go to him. India would be benefited with this deal, because in coming days atomic energy would be required for fulfilling demand of electricity. It would also be helpful in lessening pollution. We have limited uranium and it would take time to develop atomic fuel with thorium. To get atomic energy we would have to depend on atomic supplier countries. Recently, the Supreme Court has also said in its decision that there is no compulsion for the Govt to present the deal in parliament for approval. Government is free to complete this deal. Then what is the cause for delay.
