National seminar on radiation protection held

Bhopal, Feb 9: The first conference of association of medical physicist of India Northern Chapter- quality assurance in diagnostic radiology and national seminar on Radiation Protection was inaugurated by Bhopal Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Barkatullah University, Bhopal. He congratulated the organisers for organising the Scientific meeting which will help in updating the knowledge of medical and paramedical members of medical fraternity involved in the use of radiation for medical purposes.

He said that younger generation should use these radiations judiciously for larger benfit of mankind.

In his presidential address Prof. SK Koul, president association of medical physicists of India said that the time has come that we should have a common teaching programme throughout the nation, so that the quality of imaging and treatment is uniformed of high standard. It was also emphasized that the government should set up a committee to formulize the cost of ultrasound, CT and MRI per patient. Also rate of treatment by radiation be also fixed.

He congratulated the state government for setting up directorate of radiation protection. This will help the state in regulating the use of X-Rays and prevent the growth of illegal training centres.

The meeting ended with the vote of thanks by Dr DP Singh, Head Radiotherapy, Gandhi Medical College, Bhopal.

After the inauguration people of eminence in the field of medical physics were felicitated.
