MECAPS hails AMU study centre in Bhopal

Bhopal, Feb 9: Muslim Education and Career Promotion Society, (MECAPS), has welcomed the decision of Aligarh Muslim University, (AMU), to set up its study centers in five states including Madhya Pradesh. The study centre will be located in Bhopal.

The AMU Executive Council's decision to open study centres in other states including West Bengal, Bihar, Kerala and Maharashtra. Welcoming the decision, MECAPS' secretary Sagheer Baidaar assured that the Society would extend its co-operation in setting up of this centre at Bhopal.

These upcoming study centres will have special admission quota for students coming from the weaker sections of the society. The centres will carry out over 300 programmes that are being offered by AMU at present. Some degree level programmes in agriculture, commerce, biotechnology, social sciences, life sciences, theology and law will be offered at these centres. At present, there are about 30,000 students enrolled in the 323 programmes offered by the university.

Meanwhile, Baidaar also hailed the AMU Executive Council decision to set up four admission test centres for MBBS/ BDS, B Tech, B Arch, MBA and diploma in engineering courses. These centres will be opened in Bhopal, Calicut, Kolkata and Pune in the current academic session.

It is to be noted here that last year the then Vice Chancellor of AMU Naseem Ahmed was the chief guest at MECAPS annual function. MECAPS had pleaded on the occasion that AMU should take effective steps for the promotion of education among Muslims all over India. Some concrete steps were suggested in this regard.

The then Vice Chancellor had agreed with the suggestion and also assured that AMU will extend its help to MECAPS in organizing Sultan Jehan Memorial Lecture Series in Bhopal.
