98 lakh children to be administered polio drops today

Bhopal, Feb 9: As many as 98 lakh children up to five years of age will be administered Pulse Polio drops in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday February 10. All arrangements in this regard have been completed. For this one crore 42 vaccine dozes have been sent to districts. Adequate arrangements of cold chain have also been made with a view to keeping the polio dozes intact. After administering polio doze at polio booths on Sunday, remaining children would be given the dozes at their houses on Monday and Tuesday, February 11 and 12, 2008. It may be mentioned that during the last one year no new polio case has been found in Madhya Pradesh.

The state government has completed all the arrangements to make the polio campaign successful. In all, 65 thousand 711 polio vaccination booths have been set up in districts. Besides, 2433 transit booths and 1822 mobile teams have also been deployed. For ensuring polio campaign's success, 10 thousand 147 supervisors and one lakh 64 thousand 854 employees have been posted. For exchanging campaign-related information, a state-level control room has been set up at Bhopal's IEC Bureau with telephone numbers 0755-6418927 and fax 0755-27060183.

During the pulse polio campaign children up to the age of five years will be administered polio doze. Arrangements have also been made to administer polio dozes by mobile teams to children of families living in under-construction urban colonies, semi-urban areas, brick kilns, stone quarries, premises of small and big industrial units and remote forest areas. Transit booths would be constituted to administer polio dozes to children at bus stands, railway stations, crowded markets and Mela areas. Earlier also, under the able guidance of district collectors Health Department, government/non-government organisations, voluntary bodies and citizens have extended their cooperation in making the pulse polio campaign successful.
