Chronicle News Service

Indore, Feb 7: Yet another murder incident has rocked the city when some unidentified assailants hacked to death a person at Bapat square under Heera Nagar police station area here on Wednesday night. The accused after killing the victim, made away with his mobile.

The incident according to CSP Shailendra Singh, occurred near the ashram of Bhaiyu Maharaj at 11 am on Wednesday night, when some assailants in an attempt to snatch mobile from the victim identified as Amol Pendse (28), stabbed him with knife, killing him on the spot. Police said the victim who had been stabbed thrice, after running some distance, collapsed and remained there for some time, when some passersby spotted him. He was immediately rushed to M Y hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries following excessive bleeding.

The identity of the victim was established after the police recovered his purse from the incident site. The deceased Amol Pendse, a resident of Deendayal Upadhyay Nagar, was an employee of Citi Finance company. On Wednesday night, after seeing his father off to Nagpur bound train at Indore railway station, he had a dinner at his residence. Thereafter, he came out of his residence on a night stroll at Bapat square and was engaged in talking to someone on his cell phone, when the incident took place.

CSP said the deceased was in the habit of going on night stroll after the dinner and used to have long chat on his mobile phone. Meanwhile, the police have zeroed in its investigation on three aspects - the first theory is that the victim might have been killed with a loot intention, or he might have some tiff with someone over finance matter. The third probe angle the police are looking into is that the victim might have been killed because of his affairs with any girl.
