Bhopal, Feb 7 :
The state government is going to tighten up arrangements for power distribution apart from efforts for increasing power generation and checking power loss during transmission. These efforts are being undertaken with a view to facilitating the consumers. Rs 1227 crore would be spent on these works which have been assigned to the three electricity distribution companies and would be completed within 250 days. These works have already begun one and a half months ago.
The state government has realised the importance of power distribution side by side with power generation and checking transmission losses. It came to the fore during a survey some months ago that mismanagement in the distribution system is posing biggest snag in smooth power supply to the consumers. Following this, the state government took unto it the responsibility of overhauling the entire power distribution system. Importantly, these works would not only fulfilling the present day demand of power but would also lay a solid foundation for future. After completion of these works, power consumers throughout the state would not face any difficulty.
The state government has chalked out this foolproof strategy after thorough deliberations. The plan chalked out on the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has laid emphasis on the practical aspects of implementation. These works would be done simultaneously by all the three power distribution companies viz Eastern, Central and Western area electricity distribution companies. The works have been intensified after fixation of the deadline.
These three electricity distribution companies would complete installation of 33 KV electricity lines in 6242 kilometre area while the Western Area Electricity Distribution Company would also improve electricity lines in 211 kilometre area. Similarly, 43o new sub-stations of 33 KV capacity each would be set up while the capacity of 547 sub-stations would be enhanced. Besides, additional capacity would be generated in 171 sub-stations.
In the same series, 11 KV lines would be extended in 7693 kilometre area while improvement would be effected in 1255 kilometre area. Low Tension power lines spread in 1826 kilometre area would be improved into 11 KV lines. The electricity distribution companies have also been entrusted the responsibility to install 10 thousand 802 new transformers and increase the capacity of 120 existing transformers. The with a view to strengthening power distribution system, the Easter Area Electricity Distribution Company would install 44 capacitor banks of 600 KVA and 99 of 1200 KVA capacity while the Central and Western area electricity distribution companies would establish 430 and 606 capacitor banks respectively.
It may be mentioned that a separate strategy is being chalked out for improving the arrangements of power generation and transmission.
