Nagar Panchayat president sentenced

Bhopal, Feb 6: Special Court Chhindwara sentenced president of Nagar Panchayat of Mohgaon in Chhindwara district Laxman Dhoble to two years' rigorous imprisonment and Rs 3,000 fine for taking bribe.

According to information received from Lokayukta office, a case was registered against the accused present of Nagar Panchayat of Mohgaon in Chhindwara district Laxman Dhoble on the complaint lodged by Onkar son of Bithhal Brahme, a resident of Mohgaon in Chhindwara. The case against the accused was registered on October 29, 2002 and he was caught red handed while accepting Rs 2,000 bribe.

The complainant had applied for no objection certificate for issuance of licence of a bear bar for which the accused had asked the complainant to give Rs 2,000 as bribe.

A case was registered against the accused when the evidence against him was found to be cognizable and the same was put up before the special court.

The Special court Chhindwara found him guilty of taking bribe and sentenced the accused Laxman Dhoble who was then president of Nagar Panchayat of Mohgaon in Chhindwara district to two years' rigorous imprisonment and Rs 3,000 fine. The convict would have to undergo six more months' imprisonment if he fails to remit the amount of fine.
