Jablpur, Feb 6:
BJP leader L K Advani addresses a rally on Wednesday in Jabalpur as part of his Sankalp yatra that was drastically curtailed after the Centre warned of terror threats to his life.
The National Security Advisor M K Narayanan had met Advani on Tuesday and asked him to cancel his planned rallies across India due to security threats. The BJP then cut short his programme to three rallies.
The rally is being held now in the cantonment area of Jabalpur under heavy police presence.
Advani was to address 13 rallies in 12 states. It changed after Narayanan met Advani and told him that in January arrested Huji militants confessed targetting him.
Intelligence intercepts from LoC say he could be the target of five terror modules.
BJP responded with confusion to this information.
First, it said barring on Wednesday's rally in Jabalpur are off. Then BJP's spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said that Advani's Rampur rally has been postponed.
Finally, a three-rally schedule was announced. But sources say, Advani had agreed to rallies only in Jabalpur and Devangir in the first place.
Now the party has taken up the issue of UPA's failure to control terror.
To this the Congress reacted strongly. ''The BJP does politics in everything. It should spare security threats,'' said Veerappa Moily, Spokesperson for Congress.
There were also questions as to why did Narayanan inform Advani about the threat two days before his yatra.
Taking a dig at what he calls a soft centeral government, Advani said that if the BJP comes back to power the government's policy would be of zero tolerance against terrorism.

Two other leaders are also under increased threat - Gujarat's Chief Minister Narendra Modi and J&K Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
It was discovered that one of Azad's security men was leaking information following which now Azad is protected by the National Security Guard.
