Medical
Council of India(MCI) has recommended to central government
to close Post Graduate(PG) classes in all the five medical
colleges of Madhya Pradesh. MCI secretary has written a letter
to state government and Government of India that the state
medical colleges are not up to the standard so the affiliation
of these medical colleges should be cancelled. MCI had found
out loopholes of these medical colleges after making two inspections
and had given directives to remove them. There is lack of
staff in medical colleges but it could not removed completely.
Lack of resources and improper arrangement is prevailing in
these colleges for teaching of PG students and it is of great
concern. Whereas, at the government level often it is said
that these problems and lack of facilities would be removed.
It is natural to become disturbed with the recommendation
of MCI. As in condition of canceling affiliation the future
of 311 PG students and 256 diploma students would get affected.
Though all the five medical college seats of MBBS and PG are
filled according to all India quota. Keeping in view this
the dean of Gandhi Medical College has requested to reconsider
over the recommendations to MCI. But it should be understood
that the quality of education of state medical colleges should
be improved. The state government should take necessary steps
to remove lack of facilities in the field of medical education.
State is facing shortage of doctors and quality education
should be introduced in medical colleges. To take the medical
colleges up to national level good teachers and better facilities
are required. In this way we can get better doctors. Keeping
in view all these conditions, immediate steps should be taken
to further improve medical education.
